TL;DR she's genki AF.
Positivity: Nagiko's biggest strength is her positivity. She is undoubtedly the happy-go-lucky type and, along with her bright and loud fashion sense, she never fails to always have a smile on her face, practically oozing out sunshine and sparkling energy at every moment.
Always so vigorous and full of energy to a point that even her extroverted friends had trouble keeping up with her and described her hyperactive behavior as Berserker-like. Even when she ate drugged-up chocolate intended to physically manifest a person's stress, she's completely immune to it, implying that she either has no stress at all or that she's too full of positivity to be stressed out about stuff. That's not to say that she is a person without moments she is down or stuff she dislikes. As she admits herself, while she does have her dislikes, she tends to hyper-focus on her likes and the positives that she forgets about her own dislikes.
Her tendency for the positives is apparent in her diary "The Pillow Book", where she writes about lighthearted events and downplays or omits harsh realities happening at the court serving during her time as a court lady.
Sei Shonagon: During the Heian period when she was still living, Nagiko served Empress Teishi as the court lady and taken the pseudonym "Sei Shonagon". Her time at the imperial court was where she writes her personal feelings and experiences in The Pillow Book, with its content mostly about gossips, or wonderful moments worth remembering surrounding Empress Teishi. But after Empress Teishi's passing, Nagiko put her life as Sei Shonagon behind within the imperial court and thus no longer has the desire to write. Since she was summoned, she actively prefers to introduce herself by her birthname Nagiko than the author famous for her book.
But even after her life as Sei Shonagon is over, Empress Teishi is very dear to Nagiko's heart and is the reason why she remains so jovial all the time. In her interlude, she revealed that she is convinced that Empress Teishi watches over her from above, and because of that, never wants to be caught feeling down at any moment for fear of disappointing the Empress. Nagiko is resolved to be sparkling no matter what.
Clueless: While Nagiko's attempt to befriend is always in good nature, sometimes it could very well be annoying to others. Unfortunately, she is incredibly oblivious when someone genuinely dislikes her or is annoyed by her nature and genuinely has the inability to read the air.
Take for example Murasaki Shikubu's remarks on Sei Shonagon. In The Diary of Lady Murasaki, Murasaki has critical and scathing remarks for her rival court lady, but Nagiko misinterpreted those remarks as just her being a tsundere and thinks they get along well together. More often than not, whether it's intentional or she is just that clueless, she also has the tendency to ignore people when they tell her to leave them alone.
Reckless: Nagiko isn't the kind who would think about her action for more than a second. Whatever the first inclination that pops up in her mind, she will surely act on it, whether if it is dropkicking an evil mirror version of herself or haphazardly running off on her own when she was lost in a forest with her group, separated from said group, and get caught by wild monsters. Consequences be damned.
